Start with the rope specification your equipment requires, then establish who will manufacture the quoted rope and what evidence will accompany it. Compare the construction, nominal diameter, core, lay, rope grade, minimum breaking force, finish, applicable standard, and operating conditions.
Ask each company to identify the manufacturing site, provide a data sheet for the exact construction, and state which inspection or test records and delivery terms it can provide.
The ten companies below are a shortlist for comparison, not a quality ranking. Published product ranges help you choose whom to approach, but the exact rope and manufacturing source still need order-specific confirmation. If you have a settled specification and want to compare models, see our steel wire rope range. This guide focuses on supplier selection and due diligence.

How Each Company Fits a Shortlist?
The table gives you a starting point. These profiles show where to focus the follow-up questions. Request current technical documents with the RFQ.
Usha Martin
Usha Martin publishes rope families for cranes, mining, oil and gas, elevators, and other industrial uses. For a project with several rope duties, ask whether one producing site can supply all the quoted constructions. Compare the data sheets and manufacturing locations for each line item.
Bridon® Steel Wire Ropes by Bekaert
Bridon is a Bekaert steel-rope brand, and its published service offering includes rope selection and inspection support. If field support affects your purchase, ask which service is available in your region, who provides it, and whether the quotation includes it.
WireCo
WireCo presents several specialist rope brands, including Union. Specify the brand and construction on the RFQ; a parent-company name alone does not identify the rope. For a replacement, have the proposed product checked against the equipment maker’s requirements.
Teufelberger-Redaelli
Teufelberger-Redaelli publishes ropeway products and related lifecycle services. For an engineered installation, send the operating conditions and ask for a written recommendation that identifies the proposed rope, the design assumptions, and the support included.
Kiswire
Kiswire publishes compacted and rotation-resistant rope families. Compare the exact construction against bending, abrasion, and rotation requirements. Matching diameter alone does not establish that two ropes are interchangeable.
Gustav Wolf
Gustav Wolf distinguishes elevator, crane, and special ropes in its published range. For an elevator replacement, provide the machine, traction, and sheave details and ask for a product-specific compatibility review.
Jiangsu Langshan
Langshan lists round-strand, line-contacted, and multilayer rope categories. Ask for the current data sheet, the production site, and the production schedule for the construction you need. Historical output figures do not establish capacity for your order.
Tokyo Rope
Tokyo Rope publishes rope applications that include cranes, elevators and cableways. Use the relevant catalogue to narrow your inquiry, then confirm that the quoted construction meets the equipment requirements and governing standard.
DSR
DSR publishes a wire-rope range alongside other wire and rope products. Ask the seller to identify the construction, rope grade, lay, finish, length, and producing entity on each quotation line so you can compare like with like.
Powerful Machinery

Powerful Machinery’s catalogue lists steel wire rope and related rigging products. For the rope you intend to order, ask our team to identify the producing site and provide the applicable data sheet and available inspection or test documents. Confirm the lead time and commercial terms in the quotation.
Manufacturer vs Supplier vs Distributor: Who Should You Buy From?
A manufacturer performs the rope-making operations at a producing facility. A supplier or vendor sells the rope and may source it from another plant. A distributor commonly offers regional stock, delivery, cutting, assembly, or service. One company can fill several roles; ask which entity makes the rope and which entity sells and warrants your specific order.
Direct engagement with a manufacturer may suit a custom construction, a long repeat run or a need for production records. A distributor may be more practical for a short replacement length, local stock or urgent site support.
A supplier can coordinate rope and fittings from several sources, but should identify the actual producing plant and preserve traceability to the quoted product. Agree who handles nonconforming deliveries.
A search for “wire rope suppliers” can mean comparing companies or buying a specified rope. Use this guide for supplier comparison and our steel wire rope products to review available models.
What to Verify at the Factory and in the Documents
Identify the contracting seller and the site that will produce the quoted rope. If a seller presents itself as a factory, ask which manufacturing steps it performs and whether another plant or subcontractor is involved. A video call, dated production images, or an on-site audit may help verify the site, but a machine photograph alone does not tie a particular construction to your order.
Check the quotation against the data sheet: construction and strand pattern; nominal diameter and tolerance; core designation; lay direction and type; finish and lubrication; rope grade or nominal tensile strength; stated minimum breaking force; applicable standard and edition; length and packing.
Specify the inspection or test documents you require in the purchase order. If batch or reel traceability matters, agree how the reel identification will connect to the packing list and test report.
For each certificate, check the issuing body, named holder, site, scope and validity. A quality-management certificate does not certify the breaking force of an individual reel. Agree on acceptance criteria, inspection points, documentation and remedies before placing the order. If an approval or independent witness is required, state that requirement in the RFQ.
Keep Breaking Force Separate From the Operating Rating
Nominal tensile strength, expressed in MPa, identifies a strength grade used in the rope specification. Minimum breaking force is a force value, usually stated in kN, for a defined construction, diameter, core and grade. Some catalogues label that column “minimum breaking load.” Neither term gives you the permissible operating load of a complete installation.
For example, the Powerful Machinery catalogue shows 84.6 kN for a 12 mm 6×19 rope at 1770 MPa in its shared IWR/IWS column. That is a catalogue minimum breaking value, not a 12 mm rope working load limit (WLL).
The actual application must account for the specified core, end termination efficiency, reeving, required design factor, equipment rating, and applicable rules. See our steel wire rope tensile strength guide for more on the terms. Have the equipment manufacturer or a qualified engineer review a safety-critical substitution.
Match the Supplier to the Application
Cranes and hoists: Provide the existing rope designation and equipment maker’s requirements. Discuss drum and sheave dimensions, fleet angle, multilayer winding, bending cycles, crushing, rotation behavior and inspection intervals. A higher catalogue breaking force does not by itself make a rope a compatible replacement.
Elevators: Provide the machine model, traction arrangement, sheave profile, speed, travel and required standard. Request an elevator-rope data sheet and written compatibility review. Do not substitute a general-purpose rope on diameter alone.
Winches, ports and marine work: Describe whether the rope pulls or lifts, the operating environment, drum capacity, abrasion and storage conditions. Compare construction, finish and lubrication as well as breaking force. If you buy a finished assembly, specify its terminations and required assembly rating separately from the bare-rope value.
Industrial machinery: Share the rope path, bending frequency, load spectrum, environment, and length. If you cannot identify the existing rope, send equipment drawings rather than guessing a construction from a catalogue. Our regional sourcing guides cover India and the USA.
Review Powerful Machinery’s Published Rope Range
The Qingdao Powerful Machinery catalogue lists steel strand, 6×7, 6×19 and 6×37 ropes, line-contacted constructions, elevator rope and multilayer rope categories. It shows galvanized and ungalvanized versions and core designations such as FC and IWR/IWS in the applicable tables. Confirm the exact diameter, grade, core, and finish combination for a quotation; a catalogue range does not establish that every combination is available.
Review the steel wire rope product range for model-level data. If your project also needs wire rope clips, thimbles or other wire rope fittings, list them as separate RFQ items. Have a qualified person specify and verify any finished assembly. Ask our team for the rope’s producing site, current technical sheet, and order-specific documentation.
