Certified Lifting & Rigging Shackles

Powerful Machinery supplies certified, individually proof-tested shackles for industrial lifting and rigging. Browse bow (anchor) and Dee (chain) bodies with screw pins or safety bolts, including AS 2741 Grade S and U.S.-type G-209, G-210, G-2130 and G-2150 patterns.

Compare sizes, working load limits, and dimensions, then send us your connection details for a quotation.

Shackle Size & Working Load Limit (WLL) Chart

These endpoints describe each catalogue range; they do not establish the WLL of an intermediate size. Check the marked WLL and drawing for the exact model you order.

Pattern Body Pin Nominal Size WLL (Catalogue Units)
Grade S Dee — AS 2741 Dee Screw pin / safety bolt options* 6–51 mm 0.5–35 ton
Grade S Bow — AS 2741 Bow Screw pin / safety bolt options* 6–63 mm 0.5–55 ton
G-209 Drop Forged Bow / Anchor Screw pin 3/16–3 in 1/3–85 ton
G-210 Drop Forged Dee / Chain Screw pin 1/4–3 in 1/2–85 ton
G-2130 Drop Forged Bow / Anchor Safety bolt 1/2–4 in 2–150 ton
G-2150 Drop Forged Dee Safety bolt 1/2–4 in 2–150 ton
European-Type Large Bow / Dee Bow / Dee Screw pin shown in catalogue 5–50 mm 80–8,000 kg

*The Grade S catalogue shows two pin constructions beside a shared size/WLL table, but no size-by-pin availability list. Confirm the pin type for the requested size before ordering.

Bow vs Dee Shackles

Selection Factor Bow / Anchor Dee / Chain
Shape Rounded crown Narrower D-shaped body
Connection Space More room at the crown Compact inline connection
Catalogue Examples Grade S Bow; G-209; G-2130 Grade S Dee; G-210; G-2150
Check Before Ordering WLL, crown fit, bearing area, load direction WLL, jaw opening, pin fit, load direction

For more detail on body shape and connection geometry, see the Bow vs Dee shackle comparison.

Screw Pin vs Safety Bolt Shackles

Feature Screw Pin Safety Bolt
Pin Assembly Removable threaded pin Bolt, nut and cotter pin
Forged Catalogue Patterns G-209 anchor; G-210 Dee G-2130 bow; G-2150 Dee
Selection Check Assembly/disassembly and pin security for the exact use Positive pin retention and access for installation and inspection

Choose the closure for the actual application and the selected model’s instructions. Do not substitute another pin type without confirming the rated configuration.

Shackle Dimensions and How to Measure

Nominal size is only a starting point. On the drawing for the chosen pattern, check pin diameter, jaw opening, inside width, and length against the mating part. Dimension letters vary between patterns, so use each diagram with its own table.

Include load direction and available clearance with the mating-part dimensions in your RFQ. A pin that fits the hole does not establish a suitable rated connection.

Our how to measure a shackle guide shows where to take each measurement.

Shackle Materials and Finishes

The G-209, G-210, G-2130, and G-2150 as drop-forged. Confirm the material and finish for the exact model in your quotation. Galvanizing is a finish; the stainless steel range is a separate material choice.

For corrosive service, compare our separate stainless steel shackle range and specify the exposure and WLL in your RFQ.

Certified, Proof-Tested Shackles and Applicable Standards

All Powerful Machinery shackles are certified, and every shackle is proof tested. Products meet or exceed the standard or product specification applicable to the ordered model. List the certificates, test records, and traceability details you need in your RFQ.

The catalogue lists Grade S bow and Dee shackles under AS 2741 and identifies the U.S.-type G-series by pattern. A pattern name alone does not establish third-party certification. Review any applicable ASME or OSHA use and inspection requirements separately for the job and destination market.

How to Specify Shackles for a Quote

Send the following information for the model and connection you need:

  • Required WLL and units; intended load direction and application.

  • Body style (bow or Dee) and pin type (screw pin or safety bolt).

  • Pin diameter, jaw opening, inside dimensions, available clearance and mating-component dimensions.

  • Standard or pattern, material, finish and service environment.

  • Quantity; required markings, certificates, proof-test records and traceability.

  • Packaging, destination and required delivery date.

For repeat or project orders, attach drawings and any fit tolerances that must remain consistent across shipments.

OEM, Bulk and Project Shackle Supply

For bulk, repeat, or OEM orders, send your drawing and requirements for markings, finish, packaging, and documentation. We will review the requested configuration before quotation.

For a program involving multiple components, see our custom OEM rigging hardware capabilities.

Safety and Inspection

Check the shackle’s marked WLL and identification, then inspect the body, pin and pin retention before use. Avoid side loading unless the instructions for that exact model permit it and specify any required WLL reduction. Remove damaged or unidentified shackles from service.

Use the shackle inspection checklist for detailed checks, or the rigging hardware inspection guide for mixed assemblies.

Shackle FAQs

Can a Shackle Be Side-Loaded?

Only if the instructions for the exact model permit it. Follow the specified load direction and any applicable WLL reduction for the selected shackle.

Yes, subject to the model, quantity, and project requirements. Include your marking, private-label, packaging, and documentation specifications with the RFQ for review.

Yes. Specify the service environment, required WLL, material, and finish. We can review suitable forged or stainless steel shackle options for the application.
